Show Fifties Festival activities noted It's time to pull out the poodle skirts and bobbie socks and head to the fourth annual Fifties Festival, Friday and Saturday, June 16 and 17, at Deer Valley Resort. Top musical groups from the 1 950s and 1 960s will be performing throughout the two days, while cars from the era will be displayed. The Fifties Festival activities begin Friday, June 16 when Carl Perkins performs his style of fifties music. Perkins is known for the hit song, "Blue Suede Shoes." The gates at Deer Valley open at 5 p.m. The concert is scheduled for 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are available at all Smith's Tix outlets and the Park City Adventure Center. A dance at Steps at the Base, located at the Resort Center, will follow the concert con-cert from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. On Saturday, activities begin at noon when 65 Thunderbirds, Corvettes, Model A's, '32 Fords, and Mercurys, will participate in a parade and car show. The car parade begins at noon at the Yarrow Hotel, continues to Park City's historic Main Street and men on to Deer Valley Resort' where the cars will be displayed throughout the evening. On Saturday evening, four groups from the sixties will perform: per-form: Gary Lewis and the Playboys will play their hits "This Diamond Ring," "Count Me In," and "She's Got My Style." While Dennis Yost and the Classics (Stormy and Traces), The Outsiders (Time Won't Let Me) and Billy J. Kramer (Little Children) will play other popular tunes from the era.
