Show PATCH needs volunteers ,. -. -.. ''' .f "-.'iif v ., ' . The Davis County Health Department De-partment is currently seeking vol-: vol-: unteers to participate on its local PATCH Council. PATCH, an acronym for Planned Approach to Community Health" is a program r developed by the federal Center for Disease Control. Implemented by i the health department in 1987, the ' Davis County Patch Council has successfully labored to identify health issues uniquely relevant to Davis County communities. An opinion survey conducted by . the PATCH Council among community com-munity leaders indicated that coronary cor-onary heart disease and adolescent substance abuse were two health is- sues of special concern to local re sideints. Todd Thompson, Health Promotion Specialist and local co-ordinator co-ordinator of the PATCH council noted that statistical ' evidence suggests that coronary heart disease accounts for about 43 percent of . deaths in our community.. The po-' tennal of reducing coronary ; nsk through the adoption of healthy Mestyle habits is enormous. 'i Currently, the Davis County PATCH Council is in the process of ; .. developing a service directory that2iz will list and describe the various . community programs and agencies whose services positively impact -coronary risk.
