Show A. E. Hutcheson LkiZJ: Austin E. Hutcheson, 84, of Lewisville, Denton County, Tex., died Aug. 8, 1988 at his home in Lewisville of causes incident to old age. Dr. Hutcheson was born March 17, 1904 in Montesano, Wash., a son of James Alexander and Ase-nath Ase-nath Gertrude Eastman Hutcheson. Hutch-eson. He married Eleanore Lucille Fry on Aug. 18, 1937 in New York City. They would have celebrated their 51st anniversary on Aug. 18. He attended schools in Montesano Montesa-no and received his B.A. from Reed College in Portland, Ore., M.A. from the University of Cali-. fornia at Berkeley and his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Pennsylva-nia in 1937. Dr. Hutcheson was a teacher and athletic coach at Halfmoon Bay High School and Porterville High School in California and was Cjn economics and history professor profes-sor at Ringling College, St. Lawrence Lawr-ence University, Goutcher College, Col-lege, Penn State, and the University Universi-ty of Nevada at Reno, where he was professor emeritus. He was the author of several pamphlets and monographs, encyclopedia en-cyclopedia articles and radio and TV scripts. Austin was active in the Democratic Demo-cratic party, serving as precinct leader and county and state delegate. dele-gate. He was also an officer of AARP and in retired teachers organizations orga-nizations and in Phi Alpha Theta history honorary. He also coached his grandson, Matt's six-year-old soccer team. AUSTIN E. HUTCHESON He is survived by his wife, Eleanore L. Hutcheson, a son, Donald H. Hutcheson, Double Oak, Tex.; a daughter, Suzanne G. Hutcheson Mihalopoulos, Salt Lake City; two sisters, Betty Hul-bert, Hul-bert, Shelton, Wash.; and Marion Selters, Chino, Calif, and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Elwood Hutcheson, Yakima, Wash. ; and James Hutcheson, Hutch-eson, Walla Walla,. Wash. A memorial service was held at the LDS Ward on Aug. 12. Interment Inter-ment was in the memorial garden at the University of Texas Southwestern South-western Medical School at Dallas. |
