Show Emphasizes student services x BlackWorkshop orients The University's Black Student Union held a two-day Black Orientation Workshop Oct. 7 and 8 to familiarize incoming Black students with their aia.. at the University. In a message to workshop participants, Virginia P. After Saturday morning's keynote address by Con Cope, , ombudsman for the state of pji Utah, students attended academic, financial, cultural, social and organizational workshops, followed by a one hour wrap-up late Sunday afternoon. af-ternoon. One major aim of the workshop was to introduce participants to the University's student services, particularly those of special interest to Blacks. Much of the academic workshop dealt with learning skills services, tutorial programs and student counseling. coun-seling. Other sessions discussed housing services, job placement and financial aid. Cultural workshops featured "The Essence of Blackness," presented by the Black Women's Organization, as well as discussions of African affairs and the relationship of Blacks to other minority groups. |
