Louvers, according to Mr. Varley, may cost $35,000 to install, and some departments object to the idea in the belief that they would obstruct the view from the 14-story building. The new Social and Behavioral Sciences Bldg., plagued with operational difficulties since completion, is now having major difficulties with its air conditioning con-ditioning system. Windows in the building are fixed glass and not operable, which means that air conditioning condition-ing in areas with east and west exposures must be regulated to compensate for uneven heat build-up. The building's air conditioning system has not done this, and as a result some areas have become extremely uncomfortable. As a result the contractor who originally designed the system has been rehired to study the problem and determine whether it was caused by incorrect designing, installation or a faulty system. According to Administrative Vice President C. Ray Varley, a number of solutions may be acted upon since it has not been determined at this time what the |
