Show From chorus to stardom 'Nanette' stars Utahn Dana Swenson, a University graduate has been cast in the title role of the National Touring Company's production of "No, No, Nanette." Miss Swenson, a chorus member of the hit Broadway musical, was chosen for the role in an open audition. The story of a chorus girl making it big is a common one for the cast of "Nanette." Ruby Keeler, the star of "Nanette" was discovered in the chorus in the 20's, skyrocketing to stardom over night. "No, No, Nanette," is the story of the off-again, on-again romance of Nanette and her boyfriend and the marital peccadillos of a millionare Bible publisher, played by Dennis Day with )une Allyson as his wife. Bill Biskup is the boyfriend. Utah audiences have seen Miss Swenson as Maisie in "The Boy Friend," as Phila in "A Funny Thin Happened on the Way to the Forum," as Peggy in "The Front Page" and most recently at Theatre 138, as "The Girl From Utah." The touring company opened Dec. 27 lor a three-week run in Cleveland, Ohio, to good reviews. Miss Swenson's performance was noted by on reviewer as, "Another show stopper. . ." |
