Show Fine arts purchases rare concert grand The College of Fine Arts has purchased through its college funds a Bosendorfer Grand Concert Con-cert Piano for the new Art and Architecture Auditorium. The piano was built in Vienna, Austria, by a slow and meticulous process. Every part of the instrument instru-ment is hand-crafted. Only 35 Bosendorfers are exported each year. The piano was purchased from the South East Kimball Music Center. John Warren, general manager man-ager of the center, explained the uniqueness of the instrument saying say-ing that this was something other than a commonplace piano. No other University in the country has acquired a Bosendorfer, and it has created a great deal of interest. inter-est. Music faculty from the University Uni-versity of Nevada and the University Univer-sity of Colorado, as well as other campuses, have planned trips to Salt Lake to look at and play the piano. The University submitted bids to several dealers in different makes of pianos. Members of the music faculty played each piano bid on. The Bosendorfer created the biggest sensation and the University Uni-versity was lucky enough to acquire it. |
