Show Students prepare for conventions Students, over 250 of them, should be playing an active part when the Republican and Democratic Demo-cratic state conventions get underway un-derway July 11 and 18. The student stu-dent delegates from both parties have planned caucuses for the day of their conventions, and all student delegates should be wearing wear-ing blue and white badges identifying identi-fying themselves as students. Republican students will caucus cau-cus at 9:15 in Room E-14 at the Salt Palace. The state platform will be discussed and possibly a non-binding poll taken on the Rampton-Burton race. Democratic students will hold a preliminary meeting July 16 at 7 p.m. in Union 277 to discuss strategy and goals for the state ccnventicn. Leading the delegates will be a newly-elected whip committee com-mittee consisting cf John Midg-ley, Midg-ley, Timm Dunn, Marge Taylor, Wayne Horiuchi, Mike Kelsey and Harris Vincent. Students will also caucus at the convention July 18, and, according accord-ing to Mr. Horiuchi, will "probably "prob-ably take some actions as a group." He said the main area of students concern is the state platform, particularly the plank cn Indo-China. |
