Show Econ journal will hold first convention Hie Department of Economics jjl host approximately 100 people peo-ple for the first convention of the newly formed periodical, Inter-mountain Inter-mountain Economic Review, which will be published by economics eco-nomics students from 14 colleges and universities in the Intermoun-tain Intermoun-tain area. The general sessions, held in the Business Lecture Bldg 101, will include such topics as "Democracy "Demo-cracy and the Theory of Utility Maximization". This will be discussed dis-cussed by student Keith D. Wilde Friday at 10:45 a.m. Graduate Student William R. Porter, from the University of New Mexico, will discuss the "Value of Information Informa-tion in IrArestment Decisions," Fri day at 12:15 p.m. "The Evidences of Increasing Sophistication in the Labor Market" Mar-ket" is the topic of Dr. Garth L. Mangum, McGraw professor of ' economics, Friday at 2:30 pjn. Vice chairman of the UCLA Department De-partment of Economics, Dr. Axel Leijonhufvud, will discuss "Notes on the Theory of Markets," Saturday Satur-day at 9:30 ajn. and "Economics as a Weapon for Social Change" will be discussed Saturday at 11 a.m. by Dr. James O'Connor, associate as-sociate professor of economics, San Jose State College. During the convention, the Review's Re-view's policies and editing practices prac-tices will be determined, according accord-ing to the editor-in-chief, graduate student Rodger Weaver. This economic eco-nomic Journal will feature pertinent pertin-ent student-written articles, book reviews and an employment announcement an-nouncement service. "Although the Review was conceived con-ceived and will be edited afthe University, it will be published and sponsored under the auspices of the leading university eco nomics and agicultural economies departments in the Intermountain area," Weaver said. The first publication of the Intermountain In-termountain Economic Review will appear in October, with subsequent sub-sequent publication seminannually in October and March. Those participating In the Review Re-view are the universities of Arizona, Ari-zona, Denver, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming; Arizona State, Colorado State, Idaho State and Utah State universities, Brigham Young University Uni-versity and Weber State College. |
