Show Educational U class analyzes academics v - h r ' " " , vj A class concentrating on the University as an educational institution, the good or the bad, will be taught this quarter. The class, Philosophy 175, Directed Readings, will be taught by Dr. Charles Monson, associate academic vice president. The idea for the course came from students. Laury Hammel, chairman of the Organizations Board, presented the idea to Dr. Monson. "We wanted to study the education at the University in terms of the present system, what other universities have done and possible plans derived from readings," said Hammel. Subject Consideration The subjects to be considered are not set, Dr. Monson said. "At the first class, Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Law Bldg. 108, we will decide what areas we will consider." The class is open to anyone interested, Dr. Monson said, and a variety of students is desirable. "Since the class has had little publicity, not many know about it. But, t are no limits for students," explained. The classes will be small, fh eight to 10 people. "If we find need more instructors, we'll ' them." Discussion Topics Possibilities for discussion grading practices, pass-fail, ( independent study and i teaching techniques. The unusual thing about class is that it is an active t Hammel said.
