Show Rhodes Scholarships offered competition where four finalist are chosen. Thirty-two applicants representing eight districts are chosen each year in the United States. The scholarships will be in December and scholars-elect will enter Oxford University. Graduates Eligible "Graduate students or people who have graduated and are out of school may also apply," said Dr. Canning. Areas in which Rhodes Scholars have completed work at Oxford University are: agriculture, anthropology, sociology, biochemistry, chemistry, English , language, literature, politics, physics, economics, forestry, geology, juresprudence, zoology and many other fields. University students interested in applying for Rhodes Scholarships must contact a member of the campus selection committee by Friday. Forms can be picked up at Dr. Ray Cannings office, Business 224. Other members of the committee are: Dr. Clarice E. Short, OSH 303; and Dr. C. E. Burgess, Math 301. Must Be Unmarried Any unmarried U.S. male citizen between the ages of 18 and 24 may apply. The applicants must have at least a junior standing. Four candidates are selected on the basis of literary and scholastic ability, qualities of character, leadership ability and physical vigor. Possibility For Two Two applicants from the state will be selected by a committee headed by a local ex-Rhodes Scholar and comprised of distinguished area educators.
