The program started by teaching people classified as illiterates, but now has people enrolled who are on all levels of learning. Many pupils go to the welfare office of-fice with some desire but with little self-direction. They are about ready to withdraw in discouragement. They are encouraged to rely on their own initiative, and soon they desired to take a more active part in directing their futures. Students and teachers are matched according to personality and ability. The two people work out the time to meet, and the pace of study is set by the student.
