Show Advisory Cabinet Meets With Band Director Advisory Cabinet met with Band Director Loel Hepworth Wednesday Wednes-day to discuss the change from a marching band to a concert type band. Dr. Hepworth admitted the marching band is not as good as it has been, but he feels the band sounds better than it has in several sever-al years. Dr. Hepworth thinks music must come before marching. He points out, however, that the next half-time show will contain more marching than past shows. Size Limits Band's Type Size of the band definitely limits its type. Dr. Hepworth feels the band cannot produce good music licity about the "investigation" of the band may have demoralized band members. Dr. Hepworth felt the term "investigate" as used by the Advisory Cabinet made them feel they were being subversive. Barlow said the Advisory Cabinet is interested in improving the band and giving their opinion on the band's format. They do not wish to harm the image of the band. Light Refreshments Discussed Union Food Service's light refreshment re-freshment policy was also discussed discuss-ed by Advisory Cabinet. Stan Owen and Taffy Howells represented repre-sented the Food Service. They said light refreshments being brought into the Union could eventually lead to bringing in outside caterers for Union functions. Emery pointed out this would lead to further competition for the Food Service, which would decrease de-crease its profits and make payment pay-ment of the bonds building the Union impossible. Two members of the Advisory Cabinet will meet with the Union Board Wednesday to discuss the light refreshment policy. They plan to see if it can be modified to better aid groups using the Union. and good marching shows with the present number of people involved. If the band could find a better recruiting re-cruiting system, a good musical and marching show could be given at the same time. Provost Emery, who plans to attend at-tend Advisory Cabinet meetings periodically, feels one problem with recruiting is the lack of marching bands in local high schools. He does not feel scholarships scholar-ships or credit for physical education educa-tion instead of music are the best solutions to the problem, but they may help. Emery said something is lacking in half-time shows where marching is kept to a minimum. He thinks much spirit is lost when the band does not perform a marching show.
