Show Community Action On Campus "Some of the new professors believe be-lieve we're out to subvert the minds of their students, they don't believe we're real," quipped Sue Norton, publicity chairman for the Community Services Bureau, at its meeting Wednesday. Before a group of about 12 other regular and prospective members, Jeff Fox, bureau chairman, pointed point-ed out the major objectives of the bureau are: to give everyone a chance to participate in community commun-ity action programs and to give help in the community where needed. Ways to increase membership through publicity were discussed at the meeting. The Community Service Bureau has two main functions, research and direct community service. Research Re-search is coordinated by Lynda Holladay and involves study of what campus groups are doing for community service and recruit-ment recruit-ment of its own volunteers. Peggy Carter is in charge of almost 70 service projects for the bureau, including in-cluding the detention home, youth groups and institutions for the old and the handicapped. |
