The action on the practice field is getting faster and rougher as players attempt to refine their techniques for the annual spring football contest May 13. Coach Mike Giddings and his staff are pleased and optimistic about the season to come. "They are much farther along than I had anticipated, and the prac-ticees prac-ticees have been going very well", Giddings said after a recent re-cent workout. When asked about the up-coming season Giddings explained "We have considerably consider-ably more depth than we had last year and I know the Utah fans will be enjoying some awfully awful-ly exciting football." Team Captains A good sign of progress in the spring is the selection of team captains. Last week Ute squad members elected team captains for the '67 season. Quarterback Jack Gehrke, 6'-0" 160 pound senior, was named offensive captain. cap-tain. He will be starting h i s third year in the Redskin back-field, back-field, and will again add his double threat of passing or run- ning along with his leadership to the Ute attack.
