Show Utah Tennis Squad Takes New Mexico Team, 7-2 By ROGER BURR Chronicle Sports Writer Utah's tennis team continued their winning ways here, Saturday, Satur-day, downing a touted University Univers-ity of New Mevico team by an impressive 7-2 score. LOSING ONLY one doubles and one singles match, Utah looked very strong. In addition, the number one doubles team of Jim Osborne - Mike Martines avenged a New Mexico defeat suffered in the WAC finals last year at the hands of Steve Foster Jeff Quinn. The Ute team defeated them 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. WITH THIS satisfying reversal, revers-al, all the Utah players tasted victory with the exception of Jon Eric Ross who lost to Quinn in a heartbreaker, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2. The only other loss was suffered suf-fered by the doubles team of Rick Bennion - Jim Fougler, who were defeated by McLean - Rus-sel, Rus-sel, 7-5, 6-4. IT WAS an important win for Utah, leaving them 2-0 in the WAC season play. In addition it brought their overall dual meet record to five wins against only one loss. The Utes are primed for their match next Saturday with the University of Arizona tennis team the defending WAC champions. cham-pions. MATCHES WILL begin at 1 p.m. on the University courts.
