THE VOTE WAS made on recommendation of University Vice President Neal Maxwell. Members of the ASUU Constitution Committee, responsible for drafting the final form of the document, anticipate meeting with the Faculty Executive Council during the remainder of the week in an effort to secure final faculty approval of the proposed constitutional draft. MONDAY'S APPROVAL by the Faculty Council to empower the Faculty Executive Council to pass on the constitutional draft is the first in a series of hurdles to be overcome before the document doc-ument goes into effect. The proposed constitution now faces approval by the Board of Regents and the student body. It will be presented to the Regents Re-gents at their monthly meeting next Monday, April 12. IF THE ANTICIPATED Regent approval is obtained, the document doc-ument will probably be presented to the studentbody for approval in a special referendum on Tuesday, April 13, according to Jim Moss, ASUU Second Vice President. 1 CHECK SCORE Henri Lazarof, William Fowler and Paul Banham (1-r) look over music to be performed in Rockefeller-week-sponsored concerts. Dr. Lazarof is from USC. Moss stated further that due to pressure of time, only temporary, tem-porary, one-year approval of the document will be sought from faculty, Regents and students. HE SAID that the Constitutional Constitut-ional Committee wanted to see in practice how the new document docu-ment would meet the needs it was designed to meet. Any appropriate changes would be made in the spring of next year, and new approval for the revised constitution would then have to be obtained from the same sources. |
