Show 'W "Teachers of Utah unite!" The "Chronicle," in the spirit of responsible, courageous journalism, has taken another large step forward, against the wishes of J. Brack Lee and Lamont Toronto, to present the truth about the condition of the professional educator in Utah. With the help of one of our devoted photographers, Phlick Toward, we were able to get these candid shots of high school and university educators educa-tors "moonlighting," working at other jobs after regular school hours. Many of you who are connected with education educa-tion in our fair state of course readily recognize, if not the persons, the condition of the dedicated souls pictured here. To those of you who don't recognize this situation, you should be made aware of the condition of a number of the citizens of Utah. For only through awareness can steps be initiated to rectify the problem. We must recognize that many of these educators do not make enough money to sup port themselves, let alone their wives and numerou s dren. The situation has progressed to the point wn many sections of the state the term "educator" is use denigrator and suggests a social position so low tnat our ly stays above that of a common politician. How c children, yours and mine, have any respect for a. tenmCnt people such as this? How can we hope for enligni under a system of this nature? The answers are sirnp can't. To alleviate this problem, we, the citizens o must initiate some political action and demana itut;0n makers to provide more money for the wonderful in of education. Write your legislator, your congressma j n4 governor, your senator anyone, even Bobby Ha rf 0f in the event that all of this falls, we must not stop appealing to Moscow.
