He was named All-Ameri-can in 1937 and in 1954 was named to the National Football Foot-ball Hall of Fame. FROM JANUARY of 1938 to October of 1939, White studied at Oxford University, Oxford, England, as a- Rhodes Scholar. He then refurned to the U.S. because of the war in Europe. During the war, he served with the Navy in the Pacific Theater. In 1946 he graduated from the Yale University Law School Following his gradua tion, he served as law clerk to the late Chief Justice Vinson. AFTER LEAVING Vinson's staff in 1947, he joined a Den-there Den-there until his appointment to the Justice Department in 1561. Kennedy nominated White to replace Justice Charles E. Whi- ttaker on the Supreme Court. He is the first law clerk to become be-come a justice of the Supreme " Court and also the first Colora-dan Colora-dan to serve on the Court. WHITE IS A member of Phi Gamma Delta, Phi Beta Kappa and Order of the Coif. Justice Byron S. Supreme Court, will participate in this year's Challenge Week activities on Feb. 18. He will discuss "The Constitution vs. the Supreme Court." JUSTICE WHITE was appointed ap-pointed to his present position on the Supreme Court in April of 1962 by the late President John F. Kennedy.
