Show Fleets New Four Ute NROTC Adds New Officers To Staff Post Four new officers have been added to the University NROTC staff this year. They are Lt. Col. Robert M. Piatt, USMC, LCDR Alfred B. Sullivan, USN; Maj. Donald L. Gaut, USMC, and Lt. Jerry C. McMurry, USN. COL. PLATT has masters degree de-gree in geology, and has worked as an instructor at the University of Rochester. His last station with the Marine Corps was as intelligence officer with the flotilla flo-tilla staff of the amphibious force, Atlantic Fleet. He has done a great deal of work in the intelligence field, serving for three years as an instructor in-structor of the army intelligence school, and has worked in both operational and developmental areas. THE COLONEL has been re-requesting re-requesting NROTC duty for a number of years and is delighted to have been assigned to Utah, saying he was ". . . impressed with the University and the opportunities op-portunities it provides . . ." He is associated with Sigma Chi, and has affiliated with the University Univer-sity chapter. His present duties are as executive officer. Lt. Cdr. Sullivan is the new senior instructor. He has just come from five year's duty as an aviator in early warning squadrons squad-rons 12 and 33, flying from the carriers Wasp and Essex. MAJ. GAUT is the instructor to the Marine Corps option students. stu-dents. He has a masters in business busi-ness administration and has just finished a tour of duty at Camp Pendleton. Lt. McMurry is a Naval Academy Acad-emy man. He started his career in destroyers, but transferred to submarines. His last assignment was aboard the USS Tang (SS-563). |
