BORN IN Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Ken-tucky, in 1908, Prof. Branch graduated gra-duated from the University of Florida with a B.A. in 1928. and was awarded an M.D. by Tulane University in 1935, and holds state licenses in California, Florida, Flo-rida, Pennsylania and Utah. He was certified by the American Board of Phychiatry and Neurology Neuro-logy in Psychiatry in 1948. Since 1948 Dr. Branch has been psychiatrist in chief at Salt Lake General Hospital and has been consultant in psychiatry at the Veterans' Administration Hospital in Salt Lake City since 1952. PRIOR TO joining the Unier-sity Unier-sity College of Medicine faculty in 1948, he was executie medical medi-cal officers of the Institute of Pennsylania Hospital, Philadelphia, Philadel-phia, and previously had served as consulting psychiatrist at Byrn (Mawr College and instructor instruc-tor in psychiatry at the University Univer-sity of Pennsylvania. Honored as president of the American Psychiatric Association Associa-tion in 1962-63, Dr. Branch has also served as president of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in 1961-62, special spe-cial consultant to the National Institute of Mental Health since 1961, and member of the board of directors of the National Association As-sociation for Mental Health since 1962. Dr. Branch was project director direct-or of the mental health training train-ing and research survey of the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education in 1955-56, and is currently consultant to the board of the Utah Association Associa-tion for Mental Health. |
