Show mnnotr iwa Election Hopefuls Set For ASUU Primaries " -I I Cannon And Price To Begin Campaigning With Debate With primary elections this Thursday and Friday, the two candidates for ASUU president are developing campaign platforms. plat-forms. THEY WILL MEET in a debate this Wednesday at 7:30 pjn. in the basement of Van Cott Hall. A special debate for the entire student body has also been planned by the Chronicle for the week of final elections. Richard Cannon, presently serving as Junior Class vice president, pres-ident, said, "The more people you can get involved in student government, the stronger the student government is going to be," ' MR. CANNON said that If students want to do such things as lobby at the State 'Legislature, he would be in favor of setting up a commission for that purpose. He said that aa many ways as possible should be available avail-able for students to express themselves. Ghford Price, this year's ASUU 2nd vice president, said he felt next year will be the timi for the Executive Council to taki a more "dynamic role in helping to carry student government tc the students." Regarding the controversial Nationay Student Association (NSA), Mr. Cannon said the structure of NSA needs to be reorganized to get maximum benefit from It He feels it la a resource for communication with other students. Mr. Price said NSA needs to be "re-evaluated, but not done away with." He said we should investigate the possibilities of other such organizations. Other candidates for ASUU I offices are: 1st vice president Craig Bat-tison, Bat-tison, Ralph Nielsen, and Dane Watkins. 2nd vice president 'Kent Boyd and Jim Moss. Secretary Kathie Carpenter, Judy Rodgers and Judy Sloan. Treasurer Dave Allen, Steve Harmien, Bob Payne and Quantln T. Wells. Personnel coordinatoi' Wally Boyack, Marilyn McKay, Annette Sorenson and Bonnie Vernon. NSA delegate candidates are Sue Anderson, John Beck, Sue Hunter, Lynne Jenkins, Kathy( Lewis, Margaret Larson, Brent Maxfleld, George Pugsley, Robert Rob-ert Robinson and Dave Smith. Kathy 'Lewis and Dave Smith are running for NSA coordinator. |
