Show 1 Answer to Goldwater The AFL-CIO has again issued its demands for "a larger share of the economy for the nation's working millions." The gigantic labor organization is planning a broad political-economic political-economic campaign to promote the demands of organized labor. However, the demands include a 35-hour week, which is contrary to President Kennedy's hold-the-line policy on wages and hours ; they also include a $10 billion tax cut, which is bound to meet Republican opposition. It sounds like the labor movement may have a little trouble finding a party to plead their cause. However, the 13.5 million laborers affiliated with the AFL-CIO may form their own party, the Labourites, to carry a '64 political banner. Who knows, they could always nominate Jimmy Hoffa. |
