Jimmie discovered the fire, on a service porch, and Mauri herded the children from the building and attempted to spray the fire with a garden hose, but water in a nearby ditch was inadequate. in-adequate. Both the Milford and Minersville fire departments depart-ments responded to the call for assistance, but were handicapped handi-capped by lack of water, and after water in their truck storage stor-age tanks was used, had to wait for water from an irrigation ditch to reach the scene before they were able to continue their fire-fighting. Only a few clothes were saved, the loss including all their household furnishings, and over 1,000 quarts of canned fruits, vegetables and meats. It is believed the blaze was started by faulty wiring. j |
