Show NEW WATER TANK DOUBLES MILFORD STORAGE CAPACITY With installation this week of a 126,000-gallon water storage stor-age tank, Milford is now assured as-sured of a water storage capacity capa-city sufficient for a town al-! al-! most twice this size. That was the opinion of Councilman Wes Bolton after completion of the transfer of the water tank from the Union Pacific railroad yards to American Legion park, near the city's other storage tanks. The tank, declared surplus by Union Pacific officials, was given to the city without charge. The Haven Construction Construc-tion Co. of Salt Lake City made the change, working on preparatory prepar-atory details since July 15th, ; and completing the actual moving mov-ing job in about three days of I work-time. As the tank was moved on special truck equipment across the Union Pacific switch tracks and main line, and through a back street to Center street, up Center to the new location on the hill, special Mountain States and Tclluride Power line crews assisted local utility workmen in lowering cables and power lines ahead of the movers, replacing re-placing them as the tank was moved ,with a minimum of service ser-vice interruption. A new pump will be purchased, pur-chased, according to Mayor Ray Kizer, and the tank will be painted a silver color to match the other storage tanks. Total cost of the addition to the city's water facilities will be about $6,000, including the pump and paint, "and there will be no need for increase in taxes to pay for it," Mayor Kizer said. "It all comes out of regular city funds." |
