Show Utah Girl, Eastern Pen-Pal Meet for Salt hake Vacation v -4 I " V V S ft s S xN Writing letters is fun, but the best part of having a pen pal is meeting her in person. A Utah girl and her pen friend from Massachusetts Mas-sachusetts were in full agreement on this point when they met recently in Salt Lake City after a three-year-long cross-country correspondence with each other. Joanne Doherty has come all the way from her home in Leicester, Mass., to visit with Susan - Williams of Milford. Both girls are 15. Monday, Susan met Joanne in Salt Lake City and they spent the day visiting historic landmarks land-marks and "catching up on the news" since their last cross-country letters to each other. Joanne and Susan "met" three years ago when they both were members of the Debby Reynolds Fan Club. One of the club's projects was a pen pal department and the girls started writing to each other. Joanne was accompanied on her trip to Utah by her mother, Mrs. Frank J. Doherty. They were en route Tuesday to visit Yellowstone Park on their return home, but they didn't board the train until after Joanne and Susan had outlined out-lined another project: A trip to Massachusetts for Susan. In the meantime, they've decided to keep up the letter writing. t Susan is the-daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen ;: Williams.
