Show K S U B OFFERS 'FREE' TV I (Condensed frm a broadcast by Art Higbee Southern Utah Broadcasting Co. firmly subscribes to the principal that television service, serv-ice, when it comes to Southern Utah, should be free to everyone, every-one, without artificial restric- j tions of any kind. j On this bas's Southern Utah! Broadcasting Co. has for years studied carefully the growth and development of television services throughout the nation, . with the idea of establishing a local television station to serve Southern Utah at the earliest ; possible date. ' In recent months, tremendous technical advancements have been made. The cost of a small market television station, such as is planned for this area, has been reduced by almost one-half in the past six months, making the establishment of a T V station sta-tion here a distinct possibility. Believing that the people of this area would prefer to support sup-port a sound plan to establish (Continued on Back Page) HERE'S MORE ABOUT KSUB OFFER Continued from Page One a local television station to provide pro-vide free T V service to everyone every-one rather than a wired system, we have begun V' liminary work for the installation of such u station. Any further development de-velopment of this plan depends on the people lo be served. We present the following plan: We will file immediately for a construction permit from the F C C to establish a free T V station, provided the people peo-ple of this area will help finance it by purchasing stock in Southern South-ern Utah Broadcasting Co. Our studies indicate that if between 500 and 1,000 families will subscribe to our capital slock a sum equal to the wired-in wired-in service connection fee plus a year's monthly charges asked by the antenna system, sufficient suffi-cient capital will be provided to establish a free TV station for Southern Utah. If the plan offered by our company is accepted by the people peo-ple of this ara, we are prepared pre-pared to move ahead rapidly with our plans to get the local T V station in operation at the earliest possible moment. To provide a well rounded program of T V offerings to the people of South rn Utah, arrangements h a v e aire ady been made to bring in the clioVe national network pro-giams pro-giams of CDS TV. These programs pro-grams will com'.' directly liom and simultaneously with KSL-TV KSL-TV in Salt Lake, by rn. ans of T V relation stations located b( tween Salt Lake and Cedar City. In addition, many of the outstanding out-standing features on other net-i net-i wor ks may be released on the 1 local TV station by kinescopes and films. The truly important part of any station's offerings is its local programs, local news, local lo-cal sports, and special events. The networks will provide the 1 best of the national programs, I but, the local station will have j to provide the local coverage. No r,her station, anywhere, can ovide this important lo-I lo-I cal service. i Another important matter i to be considered in comparing I the two ssytems is the area to be served by each. With estab-' estab-' lishment of a f r e TV station in Southern Utah, everyone living within the coverage area of that station would be able to receive the TV service free. Southern Utah Broadcasting Co. promis s that if you choose our plan of securing TV service, we will begin our efforts to that end immediately and prosecute them just as rapidly as possible to completion. |
