Show ! SENIORS ENJOY VEGAS 'SLUFF DAY' By Patricia Wilcock Traveling convoy style, six i cars carried our 27 senior class j members, advisor, and parents j to Las Vegas for the annual Senior "Sluff Day" on April 22. Nellis Air Force Base, "the busiest air force base in the world," was the first stop along the way. Here Lt. Hansen of the base conducted a very interesting inter-esting tour and we enjoyed a lecture, "The Mission of the base," which brought out the main purposes of the air force as "defense and offense." Nellis uses a very definite method of teaching, which was explained to use, and which we found very modern and efficient. Alter a delicious lunch served smorgasbord style, we motored to Boulder Dam. Following a movie explaining the construction construc-tion of the dam, we were taken on an observation tour through the dam. Taking an elevator for 45 floors down, we saw the huge generators. Next point o'f interest was the Last Frontier Village, where we had a great time on the various var-ious concessions, especially the "bumper cars'' and penny arcades. ar-cades. The climax of the evening was a floor show at El Rancho Vegas, starring L'llian Roth, author of the book 'Til Cry Tomorrow," To-morrow," and a wonderful vocalist; voc-alist; a comedian, Joe E. Lewis; Austin Mack at the piano, and co-rstatring Billy Daniels and , Georgine Darcy, dancers, with I the accompaniment of the "El Rancho Girls" and Ted Fio Rito"s orchestra. Following this, we enjoyed another delicious smorgasbord at the Sahara. After swimming and relaxing at Twin Lakes Report, we were on our journey home. |
