Show THIS WEEK IN MINERSVILLE By Mrs. Albateen Roberts Frank Williams attended the Stockgrowcrs and Cattlemen's conventfon the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Goldie Marshall j of Minersville and Mr. and Mrs. Dan Brinkerhoff and family I motored to California for a 10-j day vacation. They will attend ' the Santa Anita horse races and , visit several interesting cities. Karl Truman and h's assistant, assist-ant, Billy Davis, are now operating oper-ating their newly equipped roller mill. This, I am sure, will please all stock raisers in this locality. Saturday night the public was treated to a very impressive Gold and Green Ball by the M I A. The theme, "Green Years," was beautifully por-, trayed in colors and drama. i Phyllis Truman was activity i counsellor; Shirley Hollings-head, Hollings-head, supervising Junior Glean-eis; Glean-eis; Janet Walker, drama director, di-rector, and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Davis, dance directors. The floor show of g!rls and boys dancing was the best ever, after which the square dancers gave two numbers, followed by beautiful corsages being presented pre-sented to the Gleaner Girls and pinned on them by their dancing danc-ing partners. Mrs. Kent Terry and 'daughter 'daugh-ter of Beaver and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Horton of Milford were week end visitors at the home ol the ladies' mother, Mrs. Eulalia Dave's. Mr. Terry is serving with the armed forces in Japan. Mr. and Mrs. Sim Murdock visited in Salt Lake for a few days. Last WTednesday there was a family gathering at the home J of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Pearson. J During the afternoon a lovely dinner was served to the Pear-1 son family and in the evening i all relatives joined them for an ' observance of Mr. Pearson's 78th birth anniversary. Mrs. ! Pearson served delicious cake and ice cream. ! I A Sunday School Convention will be held in Cedar City on Sunday, March 13th. All officers offi-cers and teachers are urged to , attend. Family Night was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Vern Rollins Rol-lins on Wednesday, Feb. 23rd, which was Mrs. Rollins' birth anniversary. The family and relatives enjoyed the occasion, reading the Book of Mormon. Refreshments were served to Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Rollins, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Corbridge, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Pearson and daughters Wynona and Zola: Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Robinson, Mr. and Mrs. George Wood and daughter Betty, Mrs. Rollins is expecting her daughter daugh-ter Flossie and family of Oklahoma, Okla-homa, to arrive this week. , Mrs. Duard Evans and Mrs. Boyd Evans of Milford were I Sunday guests at the home of ' Mrs. Wanda Corbridge. A lovely love-ly dinner was served by Mrs. J Corbridge. A Smoker sponsored by the Explorers was featured in the school house Monday night, the event being the first of its kind for a long time. I Mr. and Mrs. Gus Lambson, and Mr. and Mrs. Fay Marshall went to Provo last week to have a little daughter's eyes checked. She recently underwent under-went an eye operation. At sacrament meeting last Sunday baptismals were con-firmed con-firmed on Raymond William j Davis, Rosalie Joyce Potter1, I James Spencer Eyre and Jctin-ine Jctin-ine Potter. Fireside was held at the home of Mrs. June Pearson. The lesson was "Biography of Matthew Mat-thew B. Cowley." Mrs. Pearson Pear-son served delicious lemon pie and hot chocolate to a large crowd. Mrs. Effie Marshall and Mrs. ! Marie Rollins have returned j home from an extended trip to California. They report having a wonderful time, but are happy to be back home again. I The Daughters of Utah Pio- I neers have been asked to sing several songs in the National ; Convention at Salt Lake, April 5th. Several ladies from Min- ersville's Susan and Lincoln camps plan to participate. Mrs. Lynn Roberts received a I letter from the Radio Audience . Testing Bureau stating they I wish to broadcast her song, "Uranium," in the near future. At the Civil Defense immuni-j immuni-j zation clinic Feb. 28th Miners-I Miners-I ville residents received the 'following: 65 blood types, two ! tetanus, 3 Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, 13 D P T boost-j boost-j ers, 14 D P T No. 1, 20 typhoid I No 1, 2 typhoid boosters, 7 smallpox, and 10 tattoos. Ralph Pearson is chairman of the local civil defense program. Dr. Davie, Da-vie, supervisor. Mrs. Nora Wright and son Denny and Mrs. Fred Wright and tiny baby Sherrie Ann, of Milford, were here Monday visiting Mrs. Laura Sherwood, Nora's mother, and Mr. and Mrs. Moroni Myers, great-great grandparents of Mrs. Fred (Ar-lene (Ar-lene Tanner) Wright. This is the 20th great-great grandchild for Mr. and Mrs. Myers. Miss Carol Williams, daugh ter of Tom Williams of Black-foot, Black-foot, Idaho, spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Williams. Wil-liams. Carol is teaching at Nephi high school. When the school term ends in May she will leave for the Samoan Islands Isl-ands to fulfill a mission lor the L D S Church. Monday night a bridal shower show-er honoring Miss Phyllis Erick-son, Erick-son, daughter of Elwood Erick-son Erick-son and Mrs. Doyle Rollins, was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Gray. Twenty-five Twenty-five guests attended. Hostesses were Miss Virlene Gray and Miss Merlene Evans. Highlights High-lights of the evening were signing sign-ing the Bridal Book and unwrapping un-wrapping lovely gifts. Prizes were won by Eve Mc-Knight Mc-Knight and Jolene Stewart. Ice cream and cookies were served. |
