Show MEET THE TIGERS; SQUAD HAS LITTLE EXPERIENCE BUT PREPS FOR NEXT YEAR By Billy Reese and Gary Anderson Milford s VX2 Tier basketball squad is almost entirely devoid of playing experience, but the young ball-hawks ball-hawks are all working hard trying to improve their ability, abil-ity, and are pointing toward next year, when they expect to be a strong competitor for the district championship. Donald plays center cen-ter and is a good shot and a good ballhawk. He gets his share of the rebounds and also ; sets up many plays. vaughn Mcdonald, 5 ft. ' 8'2, weighs 140. He is a freshman fresh-man and has had no previous experience. ex-perience. A forward, Vaughn has a good eye for long shots and consistently plays a good game. He wants to help the team get into next year's state tournament. j KENT KINROSS is about 5 ft. 9 and weighs 145 lbs. He is a junior in school, and the only man on the team who has had previous experience as a regular. regu-lar. He played on last year's traveling squad. He is a guard, and shoots well at a distance or in close. He is one of the fastest fast-est men on the team. GARY ANDERSON, 5 ft. 10 in. guard, tips the scales at 155. A sophomore with no previous experience, he earned his starting start-ing guard position by fast, accurate accu-rate passing and aggressive floor play. He is a good shot, and with this year of experience back of him is looking forward to helping the team win 'em all next year. ' DARRYL SCHRAMM is 5 ft. 7 nnH wpiphs 115 lbs. This mid- MONTY ASHWORTH, freshman, fresh-man, is 5 ft 11. He has done a good job on the court this year; is a steady player and a good man under the basket. He also has a good eye for the basket from way out on the court. LE ROY GRIFFITHS, junior, stand 5 ft 8 in and tips the scales at 160. LeRoy is a very good defensive man, and a good "team" player. He plays forward for-ward or guard, and is in his second sec-ond year, having played several games on the "A" squad last year. This red-headed guy, glas- es and all, is well liked by the other members of the team. 1 DEAN STOKER, freshman, is 5 ft 11 ,and weighs 140. This is Dean's first year, and when he gets more experience he will I be a very good ball player. He plays guard or forward, is a i a good shot from anywhere on j the floor. LARRY EDWARDS is a junior jun-ior weighing 135, and stands 5 ft 9 inches. He plays forward on both the "A" and "B" teams. Larry tries very hard all the time he is on the court. Dar-ryl Dar-ryl plays left forward, has an eagle eye from under the basket and handles the ball well in the floor play. He says "We didn't do very good this year, but watch us next year. HARLAN ANDERSON stands 5 ft 9 in tall, and weighs 145 lbs. A junior, playing his first year, he can move around the floor with speed, and sinks his share of the long shots. Harlan says "We'll wait till next year, and hope!" DE MAR BANKS, 6 ft. 2 in. junior, weighs 165, and altho he has had no experience, and is handicapped by a knee injury, he plays his center or forward position very well, and should be a real asset to the team next year. BILLY REESE, sophomore, is 5 ft 8, and weighs 140. This is the first year Billy has has gone out for basketball. He shoots exceptionally well from the corners, and hopes to improve im-prove steadly in the years to come. Billy says he's going to try to help put the Tigers in the 1953 state tournament. DYKE LEFEVRE, 5 ft 11 in. 135-pounder, is a sophomore. Dyke moved to Milford last year in time to earn a spot on the "B" squad, and has improved steadily. He has a good eye on the long shots, and plays well under the basket. He alternates at guard and forward. JAY PERKINS, freshman, is 5 ft 10 in tall and is playing his first competitive basketball. He has been one of the starting five in several of this year's contest. He is a good ball rustler and also a jump shot artist. |
