Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Mathews welcomed the arrival of their second child, also a boy, on Feb. I 19 at the Iron County Hospital. I The new arrival weighed 6 lbs 14 oz., and is the seventh grand 1 ' child for Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd i Mathews. j Mr. and Mrs. Howard Mar-' Mar-' shall were hosts to a few close friends on Saturday evening. Those present to enjoy a lovely hot dinner were Mr. and Mrs.. Clair Carter, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Marshall, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Blackburn. The remainder of the evening was spent playing canasta. Mr. and Mrs. Val Thompson of Tooele and Mr. and Mrs. Le- in earlier days, was on the team 1 taking the state championship in 1927 and going on to Chicago. Chi-cago. Wives accompanying their husbands and sons to the tour-, tour-, nament were Mrs. Effie Marshall, Mar-shall, Mrs. Elinor Marshall, Mrs. Ted Myers and Mrs. JoAnne Eyre. land Thompson of Salt Lake City, brothers of Mrs. Elma Blackburn, spent the week-end visiting at her home and at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Thompson of Milford. Mr. and Mrs. Thompson were hosts at a party in their honor on Friday night. Turkey and home made ice cream were the main part of the lunch served to members of the family. Co -hostesses at a shower for Mrs. Don Marshall were Mrs. Merle Gillins and Mrs. Lynnea Marshall. Held at the latter's home on Feb. 23, 14 persons were present, bringing lovely gifts and enjoying the evening playing parlor games. Prizes Sunday school services were directed by Supt. Milton Al-brecht, Al-brecht, with special announcements announce-ments by Jule Gillins of the bishopric. Mrs. Alvaretta Robinson, Rob-inson, assisted by Mrs. Shirley Carter, directed the singing. The Sacrament gem was led by Miss Donna Gillins, and the sacrament sacra-ment was administered by Sher-win Sher-win Wood and Randall Banks, assisted by Brent Carter, Michael McKnight, Burdell Corbridge, Jimmy Williams and Eddie Myers. My-ers. The IVi minute talks were were won by Mrs. Theo Marshall, Mar-shall, Miss Maxine Marshall and Mrs. Elinor Marshall. A lovely plate luncheon was served. Mrs. Idonna Davis is now in the Milford Hospital, where she is recuperating from another il'ness. A speedy recovery is wished for her. Mr. and Mrs. Goldie Marshall enjoyed a trip to Norwalk, Cal., 'ast week, returning Sunday evening, where they were guests of a daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Lamphere. Needless to mention, Goldie also enjoyed the horse races. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pryor and Mr. and Mrs. Sim Murdock decided to try out the Pryors' new automobile, and spent several sev-eral days in California last ! week taking in the races and visiting Mr. and Mrs. Mac Armstrong. Arm-strong. Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Eyre and Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Eyre also are in Southern California, where we hope Rulon is absorbing absorb-ing plenty of sunshine and will come back looking like his old self. The foursome will visit two sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Tanner and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Gilbson, and a daughter of the Rulon Eyres, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Cal-vin Miles. , Mr. and Mrs.; Lee Marshall and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Marshall Mar-shall left on Wednesday for Salt Lake City where they hope to get in to see the basketball games. Mrs. Howard Marshall will have a medical check-up while in Salt Lake. On the "happy birthday" last last week and this week are Karl Gillins, Joanne Eyre, Fontella Dotson, Rachel Eyre, Ileen Gray and Gladys Myers. "Many happy hap-py returns" are proffered these people. Mrs. Louella Rollins chaper-ones chaper-ones her daughter, Miss Phyllis Erickson, Miss Verline Gray and Miss LaRee Evans on a shopping and sightseeing trip to Salt Lake City last week. The foursome enjoyed the vacation very much. The relatives and family of Mrs. Fontella Dotson gathered at her home on Monday evening, k where they helped observe her birthday and enjoyed light refreshments. re-freshments. Mrs. Eloire Murdock was admitted ad-mitted to the Milford Hospital Wednesday morning, to receive treatment for pneumonia. Mrs. Merle Gillins and daughter daugh-ter Debra are spending several i days in Cedar City with her mother and sisters while Wayne is playing in the M-Men tourna- 1 ment at Salt Lake. Mrs. Loretta Myers returned home last week from the Iron County Hospital and spent several sev-eral days at the home of Mrs. Rachel Myers before assuming her own household duties. Mrs. Edna Baker spent several sev-eral days in Salt Lake City last week visiting her son and family, fam-ily, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Baker. While there another son, Alfred, of Greenriver, Wyo., and his fiance came to Salt Lake to visit her. Mr. and Mrs. Andy Hollings-head Hollings-head arrived home last week after spending several months in California visiting a daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Kirk of Van Nuys. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. Frank Roberts Rob-erts while in that locality. Mrs. Paulina Carter returned home last week after spending a month visiting her sister, Mrs. j Sarah Gillins of North Hollywood, Holly-wood, Cal., and her son, Mr. and I Mrs. Theron Carter of Alham-bra, Alham-bra, Cal. |
