Mr. and Mrs. Gus Fothering-ham Fothering-ham and Dean of Orem visited in Minersville recently. Upon their return home Miss Sandra Davis accompanied them for a week's vacation before the beginning be-ginning of school. Miss Aldean Marshall, daughter daugh-ter of Mrs. Effie Marshall, and Miss Maxine Marshall, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Goldie Marshall, Mar-shall, will be students at the B A C at Cedar City. - Mr. Tom Gillins recently spent several days with his son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Evvy Gillins of Pioche, Nev. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Carter have been in San Francisco and other points spending a week's vacation. Mrs. Idonna Davis has been seriously ill the past week suffering suf-fering from asthmatic attacks. She is now convalescing at the home of a sister, Mrs. Lola Bohn. Former Principal and Mrs. Sherman Carter are parents 'of a son, born last week at the Iron County hospital. .This is the fifth child for the Carters. Old hands at receiving congratulations congrat-ulations upon their grandchildren grandchil-dren are Mr. and Mrs. Moroni Myers and G. W. Carter. The fourth child, also a boy, arrived last week to Mr. and Mrs. Clark Gillins of Beaver, making two girls and two boys for the happy couple. Mrs. Alba Gillins and Mrs. Edna Crosby are the only . grandparents. grandpar-ents. Auxiliary P r e s ident Mrs. Phyllis Truman and District Membership Chairman Mrs. Shirley Holling'head were among those who enjoyed the district convention of the American Amer-ican Legion and Auxiliary held last Friday evening at Enterprise. Enter-prise. Mrs. Ethel Nielsen and Mrs. Ureth Hill, district president presi-dent and district secretary, were representatives from Milford. A lades trio from Minersville, Sylvia Davis, Shirley Hollings-head Hollings-head and Emly Gillins, sang "My Own America," as a part of the program. Mrs. Reya Williams, Wil-liams, scheduled to sing, was unable to participate because of illness, and Mrs. Davis graciously gracious-ly consented to help out. Mrs. Ileen Gray accompanied the group to Enterprise as an opportunity oppor-tunity to see her 87-year-old grandmother, who resides there with other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Brose Dalton and family recently spent the day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wal Dalton, prior to the departure depar-ture of Barbara for college. While there they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Roberts, who reside in that vicinity. The Marshall store owned and operated by Lee Marshall has had a storeroom built at-the at-the north end. The room is built of cinderblock and is an asset to the store'. The ' ome being built by Karl Trum; is rapidly going up and is located in the southeast section sec-tion of town. The home is to be occupied by Principal Gunn and his family from Beaver as soon as completed. I ' Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Blackburn Black-burn are in the process of having hav-ing their home made more attractive at-tractive by covering the exter- i ior with white aluminum tipped j shingles. I Auxiliary meeting of the American Legion was held at the home of Emily GUlins on Sept. 7th. President Phyllis Truman was in charge and conducted con-ducted the business meeting. I , The colors were advanced by Betty Marshall. After singing I "The Star Spangled Banner," I the prayer was read by Athene j Roberts. A letter from the state j regarding the purchase of Defense De-fense Bonds was read by Betty Marshall. j At the conclusion of the busi-' busi-' ness session, light refreshments were served by the hostess. |
