Show Beaver Briefs Mrs. Dorothy Williams, widow wid-ow of Dan Williams, observed her 90th birth anniversary on Monday at her home here. She had many relatives, friends and neighbors call on her and she received re-ceived many gifts and flowers. Mrs. William-, is the second oldest resident of Beaver and is still well and active and very cheerful. She was born April 2, 1861, in Wales, a daughter of Thomas and Ilith Reese. Her parents were converts to the L I D S Church and she was brought to this country when ! 18 months of age. The family settled in Greenville Green-ville and later moved to Beaver. In her younger days she was very active in music circles. She has five sons and daughters: Dan L. and George A. Williams of Los Angeles, Raymond Williams Wil-liams of Tarzene, Calif.; Dorothy Doro-thy Williams and Mrs. Evelyn Anders of Beaver; she reared two nephews: Thomas Williams of Washington, Utah, and Ralph Williams of San Francisco, and helped rear two grandchildren: (John Williams of Milford and I Betty Lucas of California. She ihas 15 grandchildren and five J great grandchildren. "Tho Red Mill," Beaver High ' school opera, will be presented in Beaver April 12th and 13th. i I E. A. Hodges of Salt Lake i C.ty has spent several , days vis-i vis-i iting at the home of his broth- er, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hodges. Ernest G. Joseph, Sam Hickman Hick-man and Sam Johnson and their wives returned home Sunday Sun-day after a trip to Moab where they attended a meeting of the Associated Civic Clubs. Following Fol-lowing the meeting they motored mo-tored into Colorado as far as Grand Junction. They report a very enjoyable trip. Alton C. Black arrived home Sunday from Umatilla, Ore., to visit for a week with . home folks. On Tuesday evening he visited at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Merle Gillins, in Minersville. On Wednesday the Black family motored to Esca-lante Esca-lante to visit Mr. Black's mother, moth-er, Mrs. John Black, and with other relatives. j The Region Six solo and ensemble music festival will be held in Beaver Friday. It is expected that about 300 students will participate. The outstanding performers will be presented to the public in a special program in the high i school auditorium at 7:30 Friday Fri-day evening. I Beaver High school's Junior Prom will be presented Friday at 9 p; m. in the High School gym. Candidates for queen are Barbara Fordham, Jane Ann Gunn and Carlie Roberts. They 1 will be elected, by popular vote during the early part of the dance and will participate in a floor show later in the evening. ! Beaver County 4-H Leader- ship School will be held in Minersville, Min-ersville, April 10, at 2 p. m. and 7:30 p. m. All leaders of the county are expected to attend. b |
