Crumm of Bak-ersfield, Bak-ersfield, Calif., is here to spend the remainder of Ihe winter with Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Wy-naught. Wy-naught. Mrs. NcUie Kirk is with her daughter, Mrs. Elaine Martin, who is expecting an addition to the family. Mrs. Bever'y Palmer of Las Vegas was a week-end visitor at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Weston. Patsy Evans is in Salt Lake with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Murdock. I Those who went to Quar erly j Conference last Sunday report- j ed that it was the largest con-j con-j ference ever held in Beaver and 'that the building was filled to overflowing. The count on I Sunu morning showed 1029 nersons present. There was 10 of the Milford Second Ward population in attendance. Elders Ezra Taft Benson, of the Council of the Twelve, nad Lorenzo H. Hatch, of the General Gen-eral Welfare Committee spoke inpiringly at all of the ses-I ses-I sions. They especially s'ressed the importance of the Fast Offering-. Instructions were given that members of the Church should fast two meals on Fast Sundays and pay the amount 'he meals would have cost to the bishop for the purpose of helping the poor. The Primary officers and teachers surprised the ch:ldren when they came to Primary last Monday afternoon by giv-;pg giv-;pg them a Valentine party. After the opening exercises Ber-'vce Ber-'vce Sm h conducted some ?ames and then the children were treated to Valinetine "ookicr. There were 20 ladies present at Relief Soc'ety last Tuesday to qu it and do other sewing. Inasmuch as February 'vcri designated as a special Boy Scou' month the program :n Sacrament meeting last Sunday Sun-day evening was given by the Boy Scouts of the Second Ward and by others intersted in Scouting. The boys wore their Scout uniforms. Those who took part in 1he services were Don Alger, Lewis Stewart, Kent Hanney, Gerald Gillins, DeWayne Alger, Leland Beard, Rulon Hardy, Frank Jones, Bishop Gronning.. Phyllis Wh:taker, Rudolph Nielsen. ) Ronald Banks and George C. 'Goodwin, J. C. Smith conducted conduct-ed the meeting. , , Jimmy P. James was or-j or-j dained a teacher in the Aaronic Priesthood by Bishop Gronning lasf Monday night at Priest-' Priest-' hood meeting. Several Primary workers attended at-tended 'the monthly Primary JJnion meeting at Beaver on FcV 1. Frank Jones, YMMIA president,- represented the Second Ward at a special Scout meeting in Cedar City on Feb. 8. O hers from M-lford who attended were James Hardy, Father Valine Va-line and Rudolph Nielsen. This was the first of a series of classes to be held throughout February for the purpose of training Scoutmasters and Scouters. Known as the "University "Uni-versity of Scouting," the meetings meet-ings are under the direction of Mr. John Cross, field scout executive, ex-ecutive, and are held at 7:30 in the Old Ma n building at B A C. Dates remaining in this monh on which meetings will be held iare Feb. 21, 22 and 28. All Scout leaders who can should take advantage of the training that is being offered in these classes. |
