Show MAMMOTH FIREWORKS DISPLAY TO HIGHLIGHT JULY 24 CELEBRATION HERE A wonderful fireworks display, kid races and concessions, conces-sions, games and contests, an all-star softball game and either swimming or a free children's dance will highlight the annual July Twenty-fourth celebration in Milford, it was announced this week by Carlyle Gronning, general chair- man 01 the aliair. ' Claude Horton, city councilman council-man in charge of parks and recreation, stated there was a "good chance" that the pool will be ready to open on the 24th. "We're doing everything we can to make it," Claude said, "and if it's- at all possible we'll have the pool ready for the kids lo do 'beJiy-whoppers' all afternoon. after-noon. We have had some very disappointing delays, but we hope we've got the delays all whipped now." At 11 a. m., in Library Park, he Milford Ward Sunday schools will sponsor children's races and concessions, with prizes for winners. This will continue until about 1 o'clock. After a brief lull for lunch, games and other activities will be staged by the Primary organizations, or-ganizations, in Legion Park. Following the games, if the pool is ready the kids will be able to spend the remainder of the afternoon swimming. Neal will present two hand-picked hand-picked teams in a softbaU contest con-test at the fairgrounds at 7 p. m. "We're picking . these teams carefully," Mr. Neal said, "and expect to field two evenly-matched evenly-matched clubs. We want this to be a real ball' game, and show the folks how good our ballplayers are when they are evenly matched and under pressure." j After the ball game Roy Myers and Bill Nichols will present as fine a fireworks display dis-play as Milford has ever seen. "Last year's display was a good one," Mr. Myers said, "but this year the committee has gone all out to bring to Milford one ,of the finest fireworks displays j ever to be presented in South- j ern Utah." |
