Show WILLIS WHITBECK HAS CHAMPION HOLSTEIN DAIRY COW Willis Whitbeck, Salt Lake City dairyman who formerly was a resident of Milford, owns the champion Holstein dairy-cow dairy-cow in Salt Lake County, it was revealed in an article published in the Utah Farmer of May 13. Mr. Whitbeck's Lil Holmstead Tryune produced 479 pounds of butterfat from 16,331 lbs of milk in 298 days, to earn the title "highest producing dairy cow in Salt Lake County." Mr. Whitbeck received a diploma di-ploma from the Purebred Dairy Cattle Association National Honor Roll, enscribed: "in recognition rec-ognition of the achievement of developing a herd of 11.33 cows to a yearly production average of 445 pounds of butterfat for the year ending June, 1949." Mr. Whitbeck plans to increase in-crease his herd to 25 purebred Holstein cows. Along with the story, the Utah Farmer published a picture of Lil Holmstead Tryune, with Belva Whitbeck, Willis' daughter, daugh-ter, holding the championship animal. . |
