Show MILFORD WARD BISHOPRIC HAD NO PART IN EFFORT TO CLOSE RACE MEET The News was requested by Carl M. Goodwin, Bishop of the Milford L D S Ward, to announce an-nounce that the Milford Ward Bishopric was in no way responsible respon-sible for, or concerned with, the efforts of Mr. Richard Nelson and others to interfere with pari-' mutual wagering at the Milford race meet. "When we learned that mutual mu-tual betting was contemplated," Bishop Goodwin stated Tuesday morning," we discussed the matter, mat-ter, then agreed ' that there should be no action by the Milford Mil-ford Ward Bishopric. "We took the position that it was not a part of our obligation to the community to attempt to regulate the actions of the race committee or the citizens, and any action taken by individuals would be taken as private citizens citi-zens and' not as members of the bishopric." |
