College and "county Commsuii cvuv-tms 170 4-H Club members, leaders and chaperones attended the annual an-nual 4-H Club Encampment which was held at Kent's Lake, July 8, 9, and 10. Miss Fern Shipley, Asst State 4-H Club Leader, from the State Extension Service at Logan, attended the encampment and was in charge of the girl's handicraft. handi-craft. She also helped with the other programs. ) Wanda O'Leary of Milford, was elected Camp Mayor at the Council Meeting held the first day. Carlie Roberts of Minersville Miners-ville was elected Camp Secretary. Secre-tary. The following committees were elected at the Council Meeting: Program, Carol Williams, Wil-liams, Greenville; Chairman, Marjorie Walker, Milford, and Jane Carter, Minersville. Clean Camp, Pricilla Kessler, Milford, Chairman, and Ann Louise Blackburn, Minersville, Donna Green, North Creek, Jos Warr, Beaver. Recreation, Myrle Black of Beaver, Chairman, and Wayne Gillins, Minersville, Barbara . Tanner and Nancy Hillman, Mil ford. Flag Raising Clark Johnson. John-son. Adamsville, Chairman, and Marlys 'Gillins, Milford, Bonnie Carter, Minersville. Camp Officers, Of-ficers, Joyce Harris, Chairman, Beaver, and Frank Myers and Val Marshall, Minersville. Log Sawing, Barbara Fordham, Greenville, Chairman, and Joan Barnes and Myrtle Handley, Milford. Mil-ford. The camp activities consisted of two evening programs, Flag Raising Ceremonies, Nature Hikes and Plant Identification Contests, Sports, Handicrafts and Log Sawing Contests. At the evening programs each Club put on an act or song. Special numbers were as follows: Harold Baker, Minersville, sang and played guitar; Darlene Nay and Jeannette Gillins, Milford, sang; Mrs. Melba Yardley, Beaver, Bea-ver, story. Noel Wood told of his experiences at the National 4-H Club camp at Washington, D. C. which he recently attended. The Lucky Circle Club, from Minersville performed the Candle Lighting Ceremony the last evening. Many visitors attended at-tended these evening programs. Winners of the various contests con-tests were as follows: Clean Camp, 1st The Scissor Sewing Sallies from North Creek, lead by ThelmaTwitchell. 2nd Kozy Clover Club of Milford, led by Mrs. Wilcock. Plant Identification Identifica-tion contest, Three Clubs tied for first place in finding and naming 24 out of 25 plants. Kitchen Kuties Cooking Club from Beaver, Jolly Stitchers of Greenville, and a mixed group from Milford, North Creek, and Beaver. Flag quiz vas won by Ann Louise Blackburn of Minersville. Miners-ville. Log Sawing Dean Carter and Gorden Eyre of Minersville. Miners-ville. Girls (14 and over) Helen Thompson and Shirley Paice of Beaver, Utah. |
