Show Light Plane from Delt; Crashes Near Milford ! A light plane belonging to I the Del-Aero Service, Inc., of Delta, crashed in South Milford Mil-ford early Thursday morning. The pilot was uninjured, but the plane was completely wrecked. Piloted by Mr. O. Buckley of Delta, the ship had been dusting crops on the Potato Marketing Co. section of the Boston Land Company's holdings, and had completed work on about 200 acres. After landing to refill the DDT dusting bins, Mr. Buckley Buck-ley had attained ample flying speed and was about 30 feet off the ground when he struck a sudden whirlwind, which threw the plane to the ground astride an irrigation ditch. - : The two pilots, Mr. Buckley and Leo R. Burraston, owner of the plane, had been alternating at the controls while they laid a "perfect blanket" of 5 DDT over the potato crop, according to Myron Persons, Milford manager man-ager for the marketing company. The wrecked plane was removed re-moved t oDelta Thursday morning, morn-ing, by truck. Dusting crops is one of the most hazardous of flying opera tions, because of the necessity for flying only a few feet from the ground, dodging power lines and hurdling fences. This is the first accident suffered by the Del-Aero company, after dusting f more than 2000 acres of crops i in the Delta area this year. |
