Show What America means to ME By Donna Muir The privileges that we A'mer-. icans have, are taken for granted grant-ed by most of us. We seldom stop to think what it means to live in America and be able to go and do the things that we want , without being questioned. We have public education, so that we may all have an equal start at life. In most countries, only a few people who can afford af-ford it are able to have an education edu-cation and the rest have to make their living as poor farmers 'or serve as workers to the rich. We also have a Constitution including the Bill of Rights, which protects us against people who wish to do wrong and even against our own government. All the people in the United States are , protected, even the poor and insane have some kind of care furnished for them. People Peo-ple who have done wrong can't be punished without a fair trial. . America furnishes many privileges priv-ileges for the young people. Besides" Be-sides" public schools, we have colleges and military academies; we have the opportunities of going about the country and traveling nhroad. We are able to own property and use 'it as we please, 'Within reason.- We Tiave nice honies B'nd yards with trees and shrubbery shrub-bery which make our lives' more enjoyable, There are parks, and swimming pools for "the ; chil-; dren, which give them inspiration inspira-tion and" a"desire to -live' and contribute. Many people would tell what America means to herqj iPjj-,a very few woyi 'Lyliil'e.; oihers. would talk for hours on the subject. sub-ject. To all of us, ' America means the right to grow up and -to be free and - independent. America is a country" of opportunity oppor-tunity and to remain that' way, we must have people who are willing to obey 'the ' Ww,"" respect re-spect their officials, help their government and fellow citizens.
