Show LEGIONNAIRES TO IMPROVE SOFTBALL DIAMOND SUNDAY The Softball diamond will get a clay and cinder dressing next Sunday, compliments of the American Legion, to put ihe diamond in first-class condition con-dition for softball play this summer. That was decided at the regular regu-lar meeting of Milfotd Post No. 16 last Monday, in their meeting rooms in the Old Library. The assistance of all sports fans, and all trucks available, was requested. request-ed. Work will start at 10 a. m., with the volunteers meeting at the ball Dark at that hour, with "shovels, boots and overalls." After application of the clay, it will be soaked and rolled, then a heavy layer of cinders or pea-gravel will be rolled into the clay. Every male in Milford is expected ex-pected to "grow whiskers" for the 49-er celebration, slated for May 16. and Kangaroo Court Judge Doug Gillam promises "suitable penalties" for all who yield to the implor-ings implor-ings of their damsels and shave their cheeks before the deadline. Unusually large cash prizes will be awarded by the 49-er committee for longest whiskers, most unique growth, and a "booby prize for the guy who tries but just can't." |
