The lesson for the day, "Ghost Towns of Utah," was a very interesting one. Next meeting of the group will be a Valentine party, with a surprise sur-prise dish luncheon, at the home of Mrs. Anton Johnson on February Febru-ary 22. A BRIDAL SHOWER on January Janu-ary 29 honored Mrs. Betty James. Hostesses were Mrse. Arleigh Cam-pcau, Cam-pcau, Mrs. J. S. Rickerson, Mrs. Ben Cooper and Mrs. Harry Mills, with the affair taking place in the home of Mrs. Mills. Monte Carlo Whist was played, with Mrs. Vernon U'Ren winning high prize, Mrs. Hubert Hickman, second, and Mrs. Ted Price, house prize. A delicious luncheon was served at 11:30, alfter which the bride opened her many lovely and useful gifts. Those attending were Melpha Lyman, Afton Spainhower, Mrs. John Grimshaw, Mrs. Roy Patterson, Patter-son, Mrs. Neil Hollis, Mrs. Clifton James, Mrs. Grant MeUor, Mrs. Dan P'erguson, Mrs. George Cam-peau, Cam-peau, Mrs. James Holm, Mrs. Dan James, Mrs. Tom James, Mrs. Buss Neilson, Mrs. Nina Berger, Mrs. MK.S. IX)V MOORE, assisted by her daughter Jane, held open house on her birthday last Tuesday. The! af' ernoon was spent playing bridge, after which a delicious lunch was served. Mrs. Lottie Poulton received high point award, Mrs. Ethel Nielsen, honors, and Mrs. Mary Johnson, consolation. Others present were Mrs. Naomi Hughes. Mrs. Metta I Weston, Mrs. Lettie Fotheringham, Mrs. Wanda Holm, Mrs. Mary Williams, Wil-liams, Mrs. Lois Moore, Mrs. Catherine Cath-erine Shingleton, Mrs. Flora Cuddy, Mrs. Erma Cline, Mrs. Nina Bingham, Bing-ham, Mrs. Anna Cochrane, Mrs. Emma Smith, Mrs. Ethel Smith, Mrs. Bertha Hickman, Mrs. Jeannette Jean-nette Kohler, Mrs. Ardith Outzen, Mrs. Margaret Murdock and Mrs. Colleen Moore. The hostess received many lovely gifts and greetings. MRS. NETTIE KIRK had as her guests last Wednesday evening Mrs. Margaret Murdock, Mrs. Lou Moore, Mrs. Erma Cline, Mrs. Lem-mah Lem-mah Boucher, Mrs. Metta Weston, Mrs. Gwen Smith and Mrs. Ardith Outzen. At bridge, Mrs. Murdock received high prize, Mrs. Outzen, honors, Mrs. Smith, consolation. A tasty luncheon was served after the card playing. Harold LaChapelle, Mrs. Earl Thompson and Mrs. Doug Blackburn. Black-burn. A TURKEY DINNER was enjoyed en-joyed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Koch last Sunday, by Dr. and Mrs. Rollin R. Shannon, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Cook, and daughter Betty, of South Milford. SIRS. WILLIAM COCHRANE M S M & A PINOCHLE club met at the home of Mrs.' Gale Perkins Per-kins on January 25. All members were present, with high prize going to Mrs. Jessie Williams and low to Mrs. Beth Edwards. A dessert luncheon was sreved at the close of the evening. MRS. BERYL CRUM and Mrs. Helene Pasborg entertained at a was hostess to a group of ladies on Monday evening, who enjoyed a session of cards and social chat. Mrs. Milton Pool was awarded prize for high honors, Mrs. J. R. Murdock, points, and Mrs. Joe C. Smith, honors. Ohers present were Mrs. J. M. Williams, Mrs. Arthur Williams, Mrs. Ross Palmer and Mrs. J. M. Hughes. stork shower last Saturday, honoring hon-oring Mrs. Jerry Campbell, at the Crum residence. The M. S. M. & A Pinochle club attended, with Mrs. Ruby Fugate an invited guest. High prize was won by Mrs. Beth Edwards, and low by Mrs. Jessie Williams. Mrs. Fugate was presented pre-sented with a guest prize. A dessert luncheon was served at midnight. : THE MAKE IT AND HOPE club met Monday evening at 8 o'clock at the home of Miss Mary Reese. Those attending were Miss Oor-rine Oor-rine Marks, Miss LaRae Thompson, Miss Bonnie Crane, Miss Joyce Scott, Miss Leah Smith, Miss Lola Mae Waddoups, Miss Mary Reese, Miss Louise Wadsworth and Miss LaDawne Muncey. Refreshments were served at 9:30. NEW 'COP' TAKES OVER Alton Smith, long-time Milford resident and graduate of the Milford Mil-ford High school, assumed the duties of town marshal on February Febru-ary 1. . Alton was born in Milford on October Oc-tober 27, 1904, and for the past 23 years has been an employe of the Union Pacific. |
