Show MILFORD VALLEY FARMERS APPROVE REA ARTICLES OF INCORPORATION Approximately 50 farmers of the Milford Valley area joined forces in organizing a Beaver County Rural Electric Association at a meeting held in the I. 0. O. F. hall last Friday Fri-day evening. Articles of Incorporation In-corporation and by-laws of the association were read and approved, ap-proved, and the group urged speedy surveys and reports by the association engineer, to pave the way for actual operation oper-ation of the power group. Lawrence Sullivan, representing the Boston Land company and president of the body, and James D. Williams, operator of the Harrington-Hickory mine, temporary secretary, conducted the meeting. Clinton D. Vernon of Salt Lake is attorney for the association. A Milford Valley REA was first proposed several months ago when farmers and miners expressed dissatisfaction dis-satisfaction with the psesent electric elec-tric service furnished by Telluride Power Co. Several visits to this locality have been made by the REA officials and several proposals propos-als for methods of generating electricity elec-tricity have been advanced. Dr. Thomas D. Adams, Salt Lake City engineer who has been regained re-gained to investigate the project and act as the association's engineer, engi-neer, addressed the group and promised an early report after an extensive survey of the area and the various generating proposals. Farmers of this area hold to the belief that development of Milford, valley as a major farming area is limited by cost of power for pump-ine pump-ine and domestic purposes. Several thousand additional acres of virgin vir-gin land are being opened for the 1947 growing season by the Boston Land company and other interests, with the sinking of 12 wells below the 250-foot level.' Test wells being be-ing drilled at the present time show apparent unlimited quantities of irrigating. water, and some observers observ-ers foresee the South Milford farming area extending to the Enterprise En-terprise district south of Milford.
