Show SKI CLUB IMPROVES SPORTS AREA With heavier snows in the mountains moun-tains giving the Honeyboy Ski Hill more solid footing daily, club members mem-bers are looking forward to a few months of excellent winter sports, according to Roy Young, president of the club. The ski lift has been lengthened to 900 feet, Mr. Young said, and the hill is in excellent shape with long smooth slopes to entice the fans who enjoy gliding on the "wooden slivers." The foot of the lift is located near the Honeyboy mine on the pass road, T.i miles from Milford. The road is in good condition, and chains are not needed except immediately im-mediately after heavy snows, Mr. Young said. "Two excellent skiers are usually at the hill to lend assistance to beginners," be-ginners," the club official said. "Our greatest difficulty, tho, is in 'controlling' the beginners. They nearly always want bo start at the top of the hill, instead of practicing practic-ing on the smaller, easy slopes i until they become proficient in th art of skiing." The "first annual Ski Club j Dance" will be staged tomorrow (Saturday) night, Jan. 18, at Arion Hall, with music by the Melody Makers. Tickets are on sale now, with members of the club offering them to individuals. Proceeds from the dance will be. used to improve the winter sports area in the Mineral Mountains. Tho ski hill will be named in a contest at the dance, with all present invited to submit suggestions. sugges-tions. Winner of the contest will receive an appropriate prize. A. L. McDonald is vice-president of the club, and G. R. Berger, secretary-treasurer. |
