Show Athletic program in Nebo District comes under board's scrutiny participating in sports. The solution for a regular program would be to have all athletic programs outside the school day. This would place no requirement re-quirement on a student for being be-ing in any other class if he did not make the team. It would also mean any bov could try out because he would be on his own time. It was the recommendation of the board that the superintendent establish estab-lish some type of schedule that would correct the problem with the athletic department and to use any of the proposed solutions so-lutions that he felt might be best implemented for the good of the athletics and the students stu-dents of Nebo School District. Supt. Reidhead presented to the board, report elative to the athletic program as it is functioning func-tioning within Nebo School District in the secondary schools. The report pointed out various aspects of the requirements require-ments for a boy to participate in various sports during the school year. It was indicated that the program now operating operat-ing strongly encouraged the boys to play football in order to participate in other sports during the year, and that all athletic programs were being scheduled during the sixth period per-iod and continuing after school. This means that unless a boy wants to drop a class sixth period at the beginning of the basketball, wrestling, track or baseball season he cannot participate. par-ticipate. It also means that it is easier for the boy to register for athletics sixth period for the entire year and participate in football in order to be in the class for other sports. The Supt. made the recommendation, recommenda-tion, as a possible solution, for schools planning to go on modular mod-ular schedules, students would have free time dung the sport season in which they are not |
