Show " zzzzzz 1 Karen Peay Steve Roper Junior high names 'Good Citizens' Two student leaders were selected se-lected by home room representatives, represen-tatives, student officers, and faculty members of the Spring-ville Spring-ville Junior High School to be the first "Citizens of the Week" for the new school year. Karen Peay Vivacious, friendly, and pretty pret-ty are words which help to describe the newly-elected secretary sec-retary of the ninth grade class at SJHS. Karen Peay, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Peay of Mapleton, is a favorite She is the second of three children, chil-dren, and their family outings and camping trips are occas ions to which she has always looked forward. Not only does Karen enjoy people, but also several pets which include two horses, three cats and a dog. All outdoor sports appeal to her, but skiing is her favorite. Her hobbies and talents include sewing, cooking and playing the piano. Karen likes all of her school classes, but especially English and type, and maintains a good scholastic average. Active in church, she is presently pres-ently serving as president of the Bishop's Youth Council in the Mapleton LDS First Ward. Steve Roper Well groomed, courteous, and friendly, Steve Roper is well liked by other students who elected him as the president of their eighth grade class. He is the youngest of seven children of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Vern-on B. Roper of Springville. Steve loves all sports and is playing guard on the Johnson Tire football team this season. sea-son. Last summer he was on the Snow Dairy baseball team, and also played basketball last winter. Any sport has his vote, and physical education is his favorite class at school. Steve is an industrious student stu-dent who maintains a high scholastic average. He finds time to play the piano, and is active in church where he is president of the Deacon's Quorum in the Third LDS Ward of Springville. He's working toward his Eagle Award in the Scouting program. |
