Show Annual hike Maple Mountain hike Saturday All hikers and prospective ' hikers who wish to limber their legs are invited to participate par-ticipate in the 10th annual Maple Mountain climb sche-' sche-' duled Saturday, October 4. Sponsored as part of the J Mapleton City Recreation, the hike will be under the direction of Wave Miguel, chairman of the recreation committee and a corps of workers who have made plans for the annual hike to the top of the 10,192 foot mountain. The hike will begin be-gin at 8 a.m. with registration registra-tion scheduled to be made at the bottom of the mountain prior to the climb. Prizes will be given to the lucky badge numbers drawn at the Monument Peak top which is beyond the lake area on the trail. The overall over-all hiking distance is near 5 miles. Each person hiking should take a lunch and all the water necessary since there is no water available on the trail. The scenic grandeur on the hike is beyond description descrip-tion at this time of year and wojl worth the time and effort, officers point out. About 130 persons made the hike last year. A double-barreled message has been incorporated into two new 16mm color film releases by the Chevrolet Division of General Motors Corporation. To promote teen-age automobile auto-mobile safety, "Drivin' and Drugs" and "Drivin' and Drinkin' " are being offered on free loan to schools, community groups and television stations. The two films deal frankly with subjects that have heretofore here-tofore been soft-pedaled as too hot to handle and signal an important breakthrough in the industry's approach to driver education, Chevrolet believes. The subject matter was selected se-lected on the basis of a survey of representative driver education edu-cation instructors throughout the country. |
