Show Harold E. Barker Mapleton rites held for Harold E. Barker Many friends and relatives paid final respects to Harold Edward Barker, 54, well-known Mapleton Church worker, who died May 9, 1969 at his home, at funeral services held Monday in the Mapleton Wards Chapel. Services were directed by Bishop Bish-op Collin Allen of the Mapleton First Ward. Burial was in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery directed by Wheeler Mortuary. He was born September 14, 1914, in Springville, a son of Alma Moroni and Rachel Zelma Averett Barker. He married Afton E. Skinner on August 21, 1936 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. Barker was an active member of the LDS Church, having been past president of the elders quorum in Springville, Spring-ville, member of the Adult Aaronic Committee for 18 years and former secretary of that committee, and a Junior M Men advisor. He was executive ex-ecutive secretary of the bishopric bish-opric in his ward during the past year. Mr. Barker had a perfect honre teaching record from 1942 until the time of his death. He was a member of the Mapleton Ma-pleton Lions Club, and vice president of the M a d s e n Springs Irrigation Company. He had been a watermaster in Springville and Mapleton at various times. Mr. Barker had been employed em-ployed by Kaiser Steel at Iron-ton, Iron-ton, W. W. Clyde Construction Company, and the state road department. Since 1951 he had been engaged in fruit farming in Mapleton. Surviving are his widow of Mapleton; two sons and three daughters, Richard A. Barker, Mrs. Gary A. (Carma) Ras-mussen, Ras-mussen, and Katherine Barker, all of Mapleton; Mrs. Melvin (Marilyn) Lemon of Pleasant Grove; and Reed E. Barker of St Paul, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; grandchild-ren; four step-children; his mother, mo-ther, Mrs. Zelma Christiansen of Mapleton; and six brothers and sisters, Mrs. David (Alice) Hone of Mapleton; Mrs. Leo E. (Eva) Hone and Mrs. Ray (Shirley) Ivie, of Springville; Mrs. Roy (Alma) Andreason and Jay Barker of Payson and Dale K. Barker of Salt Lake City. |
