Show Plcins dtiiiooEiced for big officio! opening of Christmas season Lights on huge community tree to go on for Santa's arrival The official Christmas Shopping Season will get underway Friday, November 29, when the lights on the Community Christmas Tree will be turned on as will the street lights and those on the business houses. The tree will be decorated with hand-made decorations one each from a class in the elementary schools, according accord-ing to Bish Snelson, of the Retail Merchants Committee, the Springville Chamber of Commerce, which furnishes the community tree each year. Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus will arrive and distribute candy treats prepared by the Springville Jaycees and supplied by a special fund from Springville City. The Jaycees also string the lights on the downtown stores. Adding interest to the Christmas season this year will be the awarding of two sting ray bicycles, two large 16 inch tricycles, and two wagons to six lucky local shoppers. Winners will be selected from signed cash register slips collected the previous week from Springville Spring-ville merchants. The prizes can be seen in Kolob Lumber Lum-ber Company window. Climaxing the opening fpctivitifQ uHll a TVTrrn light Sale when most stores will remain open until 11 p.m. so that shoppers can take advantage of the many fine Christmas items being offered. Complete details as to time of Santa's arrival and the prize drawing will be announced next week, according ac-cording to Larry Burning-ham Burning-ham of the committee. |
