Show SHS wrestlers win 30-13 over BY High Coach John Hafen's Springville Spring-ville High School wrestlers handed the visiting BY High Wildcats a sound 30-13 trouncing troun-cing on the mats last Thursday night here. Springville won on the strength of eight match wins and one tie. This includes the two forfeits handed them by the Wildcats in the 180-lb. class and the heavyweight class. The Wildcats won three matches, mat-ches, including the only pin of the meet when Harold Black pinned the Devil's 97-pounder, Walt Jones. BY also tied one. 97 Harold Black (BY) pinned Walt Jones; 105 Lynn Aider (BY) decisioned Tony Sanchez, 4-2; 115 Doug Petty (BY) and Phil Marshal (S) tied, 6-6; 123 Sheldon Suiwiyumptewa (S) decisioned, Wayne Young, 9-1; 127 Richard Stokes (S) decisioned Alan Sorenson, 3-1; 126 Ray Newman (S) decisioned Dan Comer, 5-3; 141 Robert Bailey Bai-ley (S) decisioned Mike Brown, 4-0; 148 Wayne Jackson (S) decisioned Phil Thompson, 11-0; 11-0; 157 Wilbur Newland (B Y) decisioned David Hatch, 4-3; 168 David Silman (S) decisioned Robert Earl, 9-0; 180 David Phillips (S), forfeit; for-feit; heavyweight Alan Bird, (S), forfeit. The Red Devils now have a 2-4-1 season record while BY High has an 0-8 record. Those who overtalk about themselves rarely fool the public long. I |
